Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture and micro needle therapy is a safe technique that creates minor trauma to the skin, which stimulate the formation of collagen and elastin.  The process does not remove the existing collagen, the treatment simply adds to the formation of new collagen and elastin, enhancing the appearance of the skin and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

It is possible to see results after only one session; however, a course of treatment will help to create greater results.  A good analogy is that the treatment is like going to the gym, results do take time but the greater the input, the greater the changes that take place.

The technique is that the needles make a minor wound in the skin, which stimulates the healing cascade and encourages the body to heal itself, producing more of the building blocks collagen and elastin in the skin.  The micro channels created by the needles have been shown to absorb topical creams more effectively so the micro-needling is combined with the application of natural products to further the effectiveness of the treatment. Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in our bodies to aid collagen formation.  As we get older, production can diminish so we use this product, amongst others in high concentration, to penetrate the skin during the micro-needling process.

We want to shout about this amazing, safe and effective cosmetic acupuncture

"A holistic, natural facial acupuncture treatment to restore, rejuvenate and relax - How perfect"

The four main cosmetic acupuncture techniques offered are:

  • Facial Acupuncture – this is the insertion of traditional acupuncture needles to create a lifting effect on the face, targeting the muscles and traditional acupuncture points to increase the energy and blood flow to the area.

  • Micro-needling – here, tiny intra-dermal needles are inserted into the lines on the face, targeting specific areas with the aim of reducing the depth and prevalence of wrinkles.

  • Dermal Pen – this is an electric device where a group of small needles are used to create trauma to the skin, the aim being to enhance the general appearance of the skin, its elasticity and smoothness. This technique is not as painful as it sounds and an anaesthetic cream is used to moderate any discomfort.

  • Derma Roller – this is a more common device where approximately 500 needles are held in a cassette and they are then rolled across the face in specific ways to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles and plump up the general appearance of the skin.

Anaesthetic cream is used.  The key to this treatment is the quality of the derma roller.  There are many makes available but the art in successful treatment is using the most effective tool. Mariko Clinic only uses scientifically proven equipment and the latest roller carries 540 needles with diamond cut tipped titanium heads for greater comfort and precision.

Men Seek Cosmetic Acupuncture Too

Cosmetic acupuncture is not just for the ladies with the male grooming industry exploding in the last few years there are more and more men searching for cosmetic acupuncture and find the anti-aging effects that are achieved to be much more effective than expensive creams and potions. Almost 10 years ago a report in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with Cosmetic Acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment. The best results are always achieved with a short course of treatment and with the holistic approach treating face and body nearly all my clients report feeling healthier, sleeping better having brighter eyes and as well as looking better feeling generally better too.
